The Rosette Nebula, NGC 2273

luminance: 5 x 600 sec, RGB 5 x 150 each binned 2x2 autoguided on 11/16-07/07.

Equipment: 6" f/3.89 newtonian astrograph with MPCC coma corrector and SXV-H9 camera mounted on a G-11.

Processing: Combined in Maxim D/L, processed in Photoshop CS with lots of hide-all layer masks and with Noel Carboni's Astronomy Tools.

This one was a real bear to process because there was a bit of coma on the edges. I did a lot of manual processing on this one to keep the stars round. I wish I had a shorter luminance image to blend in around the central stars. They look a bit blown out to me. Maxim has a challenge aligning the color frames to sub-pixel accuracy, so I had to a bunch of correction for that, too. Pretty, though.
